School’s back, so it’s time for some new after-school clubs. Whatever their hobby, we’ve got the kit covered

With a new year beginning, it's time to book up some after-school activities for spring term. From tennis and football to Rainbows, Brownies and Scouts, we’ve got a selection of kit to appeal to kids of all ages, from tots to teens. As well as offering you some much-needed time to work, shop and organise life, after-school clubs give children an opportunity to learn a skill, meet new friends and boost their confidence.

Be prepared

Established in 1909 after a group of girls declared themselves ‘girl scouts’ at the first Boy Scouts rally, girl guiding has gone from strength to strength ever since. The Girl Guides helped out during WWI, working in hospitals and acting as messengers for the government. These days, it’s a truly modern organisation, catering for four to 18-year-olds from Rainbows through to Rangers. There are now more than 800 new badges and activities to choose from. John Lewis & Partners has everything from Brownie sashes to Guides hoodies to get her set for the new term. After all, as every good Girl Guide knows, preparation is key.

On pointe

Pliés, jetés, first position. Whatever grade of ballet your child is studying, there are many steps to perfect. With a selection of Royal Academy of Dance-approved ballet essentials, you can stock up on everything from ballet shoes, both silk and leather, to bags and leotards. Gymnasts and other dancers are catered for with our range of leotards. As well as being great exercise and good for posture, ballet, dance and gymnastics enhance focus and can boost self-esteem.

Serve an ace

Tennis is a sociable, fun sport that kids can enjoy whatever their ability. The Lawn Tennis Association has details about courts and classes in your area, so check for details. Whether you have an aspiring Andy Murray or Venus Williams, we have the tennis kit they’ll need to get started, from kids’ tennis balls to court-ready trainers. Game, set, match!

Boot it

If your child shows a penchant for kicking a ball, there are after-school football clubs and classes nationwide catering for all ages, with companies like Little Kickers providing classes for pre-schoolers onwards. As well as a range of football boots, we have shorts and tops that will ensure they’re perfectly prepared on the pitch. Our sports collections include special ranges to cater for all interests, from rugby and cricket to swimming
