Great winter sale bargains for the kids

Hard-working layers are fundamental to a child's wardrobe: a gilet will provide extra warmth on a sub-zero morning under their coat right now, and be perfect simply zipped over a jumper come spring. The same goes for waterproof dungarees - a godsend from January to December when puddles and mud-laden slides prove too hard for little ones to resist. Size up - these pieces can be worn loose - and enjoy some bargains; after all there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing.

Where did that hat end up? And what about that other glove? Most parents will attest that they need a plentiful of stash scarves, gloves and hats to cover the ones left behind at the playground/ school/ down the back of the car. Now is a great time to stock up on these essentials, ditto warm layers like hoodies and jumpers. Look for styles with merino wool and a cashmere-blend for added cosiness. 

Regardless of the time of year or what the weather is doing outside, it's nice to settle down for a family film or crawl into bed sporting the warmest of sleepwear. Cue full-length pyjamas (which you can never have enough of), onesies, dressing gowns and slippers. You can treat the zip-down onesies as after-school loungewear too to reap double the wear. 

Stocking up on comfortable shoes and trainers in the sale makes sense. Happily, there are plenty of shoe styles for boys and girls in the winter sale that will see them through trips to the park and beyond. If you want to add a little zing to their step, go for a sparkly sneaker.
