I have lots of different hair textures in my home from waves to coils and curls; and the Dyson with its heat control means no one suffers from frazzled heat damage. If you can afford it, this dryer gives a great result and is quieter and less blowy than average hairdryers. It’s not cheap, but you won’t be disappointed in this excellent bit of kit.

Spending the best part of a year social distancing meant that most of us had to dabble in a spot of DIY beauty, myself included. It heats up quickly (with three temperature settings) and utilises innovative flexible plates, which move with your hair, to give you silky-smooth tresses in just one glide. That’s seriously impressive. You don’t even need to precisely section for a flawless finish, meaning it’s perfect if you’re rushing (and let’s face it, when are we not?).

 It’s a little heavier than your traditional straightener, but in exchange you get the freedom of no wires – a godsend if you often find yourself contorting your limbs into weird positions when styling. As for Dyson’s claim that the device generates 50 per cent less hair damage, my hair’s swish-worthy glossiness has me convinced.

Facial tools can be hit or miss, as they often don't show instant results and expectations can be really high when you invest in one. But after using the Foreo Bear, which is a smart microcurrent facial toning device, my face genuinely feels like it had a workout, in the best possible way.

Like many shaggy-haired men during lockdown 1, I dusted off an old pair of clippers and went at my unruly mop like I was attacking an overgrown shrub. Lockdown 2 required an upgrade, and these Babyliss clippers have given me what can now be described as a 'really half decent' haircut.
