Dyson is known for its precision, expert research and excellent performance. Their wallet-busting hairdryer has now reached iconic status and is worth the hype  - and the price tag. The new Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer Exclusive Copper Gift Edition with Travel Bag is beautiful to look at, ergonomically weighted so you don’t get an achy blow dry arm and has a magnetic attachment, which is simple and genius.

I have lots of different hair textures in my home from waves to coils and curls; and the Dyson with its heat control means no one suffers from frazzled heat damage. If you can afford it, this dryer gives a great result and is quieter and less blowy than average hairdryers. It’s not cheap, but you won’t be disappointed in this excellent bit of kit.

The Dyson Airwrap is for you if you’re a hair tools addict and would like to downsize your hot brush, curling tongs, straightening brush, barrel brush and rotating dryer into one handset. Every conceivable hair tool comes in the form of a compact head that snaps magnetically onto the main Airwrap unit. Gadget lovers will adore the nifty curling function too – at the press of a button, and with no need for any special hairdressing technique, the tool sucks up straight hair and gently wraps it around the barrel, setting it into soft waves and curls with warm, damage-minimising air.

Spending the best part of a year social distancing meant that most of us had to dabble in a spot of DIY beauty, myself included. So, what’s the one gadget that I’ve been shouting about from the rooftops? This Light-Therapy Golden Facial Treatment Device by MZ Skin. What sets this mask apart from all the others is that it uses five LED phototherapy lights that penetrate the skin at different depths to help target a plethora of skin issues. Different colours do different things. Red light stimulates collagen production, which helps give skin its bounce, as well as helping to calm skin inflammation and redness. Yellow light boosts circulation and lymphatic flow, making it a winner for those with sensitive skin. White light is able to penetrate the deepest and has powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties.

My skin has become noticeably brighter, more even in tone and hormonal breakouts are less of a bugbear.

If, like me, you always find yourself styling your hair in a hurry, the Dyson Corrale might just revolutionise your mornings. Whether you want to banish frizz in a flash or create perfect curls without the hassle, everything about this tool is fast. It heats up quickly (with three temperature settings) and utilises innovative flexible plates, which move with your hair, to give you silky-smooth tresses in just one glide. That’s seriously impressive. You don’t even need to precisely section for a flawless finish, meaning it’s perfect if you’re rushing (and let’s face it, when are we not?).

It’s a little heavier than your traditional straightener, but in exchange you get the freedom of no wires – a godsend if you often find yourself contorting your limbs into weird positions when styling. As for Dyson’s claim that the device generates 50 per cent less hair damage, my hair’s swish-worthy glossiness has me convinced.

Facial tools can be hit or miss – they often don't show instant results and expectations can be high when you invest in one. But after using the Foreo Bear, which is a smart microcurrent facial toning device, my face genuinely feels like it had a workout.

I used the Foreo Micro-Capsule Youth Preserve Serum guided by the training programme from the FOREO App (available on Apple and Android) for a 360° experience and I was impressed. The serum really helped glide the tool around different areas of the face, without any tugging or pulling. The app gives you full visual instructions on how to navigate the tool around your tension points and you can also alter the intensity of the microcurrents.

I certainly noticed my face looking more sculpted and contoured immediately after, without faffing about with bronzers and concealers. The fact that I can now give myself a two-minute cooling and relaxing facial massage with minimal effort is very much a plus.

Ghd is a hugely trusted brand within haircare and with excellent reason – not only are their products highly intuitive, they are designed with the latest technology and the utmost attention to detail. Simply put, this styler is fantastic. It heats up quickly, it’s super lightweight and it has a cleverly designed wishbone hinge so that it’s really easy to manoeuvre, which is especially helpful when you’re creating curls.

There’s none of the snagging that you sometimes get with hair stylers. The plates have also been coated with ‘ultra gloss,’ which true to its name, tames frizz and increases shine. My hair looked so much glossier and healthier after styling, with none of the flyaway frizz that normally torments me. I love how versatile it is too – whether I’m creating a smooth, straight style or I want to go all out with bouncy beach waves, this product does it all – quickly and effortlessly. There’s a reason it has so many five star reviews – it genuinely deserves them.

Like many shaggy-haired men during lockdown 1, I dusted off an old pair of clippers and went at my unruly mop like I was attacking an overgrown shrub. Lockdown 2 required an upgrade, and these Babyliss clippers have given me what can now be described as a 'really half decent' haircut.

For starters, they're cordless, which means you don't strangle yourself when trying to negotiate the back and sides. Japanese blades deal effortlessly with the most disobedient of overgrowths and the handy taper guide keeps things neat. While we’re still negotiating tiers and lockdowns these are a worthy investment for any home barber, and though I will definitely return to a professional when I can to sort out nearly a year's worth of home cuts, at least they won't shake their head in despair when I do.

As a formerly devoted wax girl with yearly-scheduled, bi-monthly appointments, when I first heard about this handy IPL device I was a little sceptical, could it really be that easy? The short answer is yes. It claims to show desired results in as little as four treatments and for my relatively fine leg hair this was the case. After the full 12 weeks it stopped growing back completely.

Lumea is best used every two weeks for the first four sessions and then touched up each month. You can also download the Lumea App for free to create a treatment schedule for each zone, which I found super helpful, but you don’t need to do that. The device is just really easy to use anyway. There are three different attachment heads (face, body and bikini) and five energy settings with a sensor that indicates the best setting for your skin tone. It isn’t suitable for very dark skin though and works best on dark hairs, not white/grey, light blonde or red hairs.
