Time to try something different? From luxurious yet affordable beauty to game-changing skincare, these brands will revamp your routine

They’re the brands you’ll find on the bathroom shelves of beauty editors and stashed in the bags of make-up artists – and now we’re bringing them to you directly at our brand-new beauty hall concept. Called The Beauty Studio, it’s an innovative space dedicated to making your shopping experience totally unique to you. Showcasing exceptional brands, with a team of experts trained to help you find the right products and show you how to use them, it’s a way of discovering ‘the next big thing’ with a bit of help from us. Here’s our pick of four of the best brands to try.

Skin Laundry

This Californian brand’s affordable, no-nonsense 15-minute laser and light treatments democratised facials for a whole new clientele over in the US, and now Skin Laundry has taken the same uncomplicated approach to its skincare line. Designed to complement the treatments (but equally effective when used on their own), the products aim to simplify your regime with the aim of clean, bright, beautiful skin. We love the Hydrating Facial Sheet Masks for reviving tired, dry complexions.

Compagnie De Provence

This is the brand that got people excited about soap again. Born out of the imagination of two friends from Marseille back in 1990, they set about resurrecting the legendary cube of Marseilles soap. Having been part of the region’s heritage since the 17th century, it had fallen out of favour in lieu of detergents and scented soaps. Drawing on the original vegetable oil formulation, which is crafted in a traditional cauldron, the friends reimagined the covetable cube with a brown paper wrap sealed with a wax stamp and a hemp string tie. And the rest, as they say, is history. Now the range boasts body care, home care and fragrance, but it’s the olive cube – that little piece of Provence – that still wins our hearts.

111Skin

For people who are serious about their skincare, you’d be hard pushed to find a range more dedicated to finding solutions for specific concerns. Developed by top Harley Street cosmetic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides, who specialises in facial reconstructive and rejuvenation surgery, these innovative formulations are as exclusive as his clientele base. Originally created to help heal his patient’s skin after surgery, the brand ethos is ‘prevention, not intervention’. We love the Celestial Black Diamond Contour Gel – it’s infused with Matrixyl 3000, which is proven to increase collagen levels to smooth out lines and wrinkles, while the innovative applicator is perfect for gently massaging the delicate eye area.

By Terry

Make-up artist Terry de Gunzberg is a legendary figure in the beauty industry. Not only has she worked with a roll-call of A-listers, she was single-handedly responsible for bringing one of the most recognised (and popular) make-up items to the market during her tenure at YSL. And the brainchild behind Touche Eclat has an equally impressive range of her own, boasting stunning products with luxurious textures that are loved by make-up artists and beauty aficionados alike. Unsurprisingly, the Light-Expert Click Brush is a bestseller, but her skincare and fragrances are also beautifully crafted – try the Baume De Rose lip balm for a luxurious moisture hit.
