Why a jumpsuit might just be your perfect wedding outfit

Yes, really – it’s contemporary, easy to accessorise and can be worn again and again. Say hello to the party all-in-one

When it comes to weddings, it can be hard to find an outfit that rises to the occasion but still lets you feel like yourself. None of us want to buy an expensive dress only to wear it once. And if you’re more of a trouser person, or a minimalist at heart, you may be on the lookout for an alternative option. So here’s why we’re making the case for the jumpsuit as the ultimate occasionwear hero all year round.

It's instantly fashion-forward

Without dismissing the merits of a dress, it can be a traditional and obvious choice. An all-in-one, however, is a fresher, more contemporary alternative, marking you out as a fashion-forward guest.

You’ll avoid same-outfit scenarios

If turning up at a wedding in the same look as someone else fills you with fear (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t do a quick scan of the congregation just to check?) then a jumpsuit offers less probability. This reasoning isn’t entirely foolproof, but because it’s a much more overlooked choice than a dress, the chances of somebody having chosen the exact same all-in-one are much slimmer.

It’s a chic alternative to a dress

If you live in jeans or trousers then it’s only natural that sporting a dress will feel alien. Which is why a jumpsuit is the answer: an elegant style will make you look instantly pulled together and avoid the need to experiment with separates.

There’s a style for everyone

Almost all occasion-worthy jumpsuits come with a degree of tailoring and often a tie belt or waist detail to define your silhouette. An abundance of choice also means that you can hand-pick from a variety of sleeve lengths, necklines and special touches such as ruffles and embellishment.

It’s easy to accessorise

There’s something about a wide-leg silhouette that looks just as good with flats as it does with heels – not something that can be said for smart dresses. And when it comes to bags, the relaxed cut of a jumpsuit means that a small crossbody will work just as well as a clutch.

It looks great with all kinds of cover-ups

Pairing a dress with an appropriate jacket is almost an art form in itself (too boxy, too casual, too long… sound familiar?). But the streamlined, androgynous cut of a jumpsuit makes items you already own, like a blazer, the perfect partner.

You’ll wear it again

An all-in-one offers much more mileage than a pretty, season-specific frock. Reduce the cost per wear by dialling down a jumpsuit with trainers or layering it with a roll-neck to wear afterwards.
