Dressing up your shoes for party season? Do so in comfort – without compromising on style

Naked toes and icy pavements have never mixed well, but the good news is that this festive season, they don’t have to. That’s all thanks to the ‘party boot’: the unapologetically decadent ankle boot that arrives either glamorously decked in sequins, swathed in metallic leather or generously embellished.

‘The shift towards more comfortable footwear – such as trainers – has changed how we feel about wearing skyscraper heels,’ explains Ffion Lloyd, Partner & Assistant Buyer for women’s shoes. ‘The metallic and embellished boot trend is a great compromise, offering glamour and sparkle while still being comfortable to wear all night and even travel to and from the venue.’

Worn with a skinny jean, tailored trouser or velvet culottes, ankle boots add that effortless, rock ’n’ roll edge to a party outfit. And as Ffion points out, ‘They’re a great way to update the floaty dresses that were popular this summer.’
