Three of the latest and greatest independent brand launches, all under one roof

John Lewis & Partners has long a history of providing customers with both quality and sustainability in their menswear – having the best interests of the manufacturers, suppliers and customers is in the company’s DNA. It’s also why we like to champion some of the smaller independent brands whose products also combine wearability with conscious production and, it goes without saying, effortless style. Here are three of our favourite labels with their just-in launches for the new season.

Carhartt WIP

You’ve likely heard of Carhartt WIP and for good reason. Founded in Michigan in 1889, offering railway workers 'honest value for an honest dollar‘ when it came to their workwear. Ever since then, Carhartt has had a knack for making clothes as functional as they are good looking. It was in the 60s that the brand started getting the streetwear connotations it’s known for today (look at any skateboarder and they’ll be wearing Carhartt) and since then, it’s become a wardrobe staple of anyone who wants perennially stylish, beautifully made and built-to-last functional clothing. What’s not to love?

Fjällräven

You’ll likely recognise Fjällräven thanks to its distinguishable boxy rucksacks that were first worn by stylish Scandi families before making their way into the mainstream. But did you also know that the label had a whole host of other products against its name, too? The sustainably-minded brand was launched from a small town in Sweden in 1960 and has, from the get go, been focused on making nature more accessible to the masses. With a focus on simplicity and practicality – with a huge dash of style chucked in – this timeless brand connects the dots between form and function. Our favourite new launches include thick flannel and cord shirts and utilitarian outerwear, all of which can be worn anywhere from work in the city to weekend adventures.

Nudie Jeans

Another Swedish brand that’s consistently on our radar is Nudie Jeans, which was founded in 2001 in Gothenburg. Nudie is a true pioneer in the world of organic cotton – so much so that since 2012, every single piece of denim the brand makes is solely crafted from 100% organic cotton. The brand’s wear-well-and-mend philosophy is simple and made easy thanks to their promise to consistently repair a customer’s denim (anything that’s not used in repairs is put back into the manufacturing loop as second-hand jeans or raw material for new products). Recent launches include their consistently good jeans in wearable shapes and tones, plus their cotton-stretch chinos which are the perfect base to any working-from-home outfit.
