The world of fashion is ever-evolving. And the necessity to keep up with constantly changing trends can often get in the way of focusing on the pieces that make up the backbone of every man’s wardrobe: a classic Oxford shirt, everyday knitweartrousers that work for weekends and weekdays alike and staple outerwear. ‘The concept of wardrobe fundamentals has been key,’ Martha continues. ‘The collection celebrates staple garments that transcend the seasons thanks to their fit, fabrication, versatility and wearability.’

The collection may be about avoiding garish and short-lived trends, but it’s definitely not ignorant when it comes to listening to what’s going on in the world of fashion. There are pieces that nod towards the workwear, utility and tonal dressing trends, as well as a focus on luxe textures through fabrics such as cord, cashmere and twisted wool herringbones, all of which can be styled with the staple, everyday garments.

And then there’s the all-important focus on sustainability, which John Lewis & Partners is pleased to be taking seriously. ‘Trying to source better product is at the heart of what we do,’ explains Martha. ‘The range has been thoughtfully sourced with the concerns of our customers in mind.’ In fact, 80% of the cotton used in this collection is of Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) standard, all fill in our outerwear products is made from 100% recycled polyester and our resourced cashmere is of the highest quality and is fully traceable. So, what are you waiting for?
