Try these inspired ways to style a rollneck for winter

This season’s wardrobe essential doesn’t boast an exclusive price tag or a hard-to-style print: it’s quite simply a humble rollneck. Practical, warm and democratic in its appeal, it was the item of choice that all the catwalk show-goers chose to wrap up in when they attended the fashion weeks late last year. Layered under shirts and styled under tailoring, sporting the rollneck is an easy way to give your January wardrobe a 2020 update. Here’s three ways to style a rollneck.

rollneck with a blazer

If you’ve got shirt fatigue when it comes to layering your suit, reach for a rollneck. More relaxed than the aforementioned button-down alternative, its clean silhouette means it still looks chic and work-smart. Top with an overcoat and you may just be able to go without a bulky scarf to keep your neck warm. Winner.

Try a rollneck styled under a shirt

Maximising wear out of every single item in your wardrobe is one way to consume clothes more sustainably. So by pairing a body-hugging rollneck with a masculine shirt loosely thrown over the top, you’re able to enjoy much more winter wear out of the latter. Experiment with complementary colours (raspberry and red is a particularly arresting combination) or if you’re feeling bold, clash prints by mixing stripes with florals.

Try a rollneck with a boilersuit

This season’s approach to rollneck styling is that it shouldn’t be hidden away from view. It’s the perfect piece to winterise light cotton boiler and jumpsuits, so keep necklines undone in order to show off this so-called ‘secret weapon’.
