How to wear sequins everyday

Sequins from night to day inspiration

Make your occasionwear work even harder with these daytime-appropriate looks

Sequins aren’t just for Christmas gatherings and dance floors after dark – and here’s the proof. The contrast of a sequin pencil skirt worn with a utilitarian parka or a chunky knit makes for an unexpected but impactful look. The knack with donning your sequins in the day lies in mixing the high with the low, so offset the fun and frivolity of sparkles (the high) with something tailored or sombre (the low). Here’s some inspiration.

Sequins for the office

The party is all in the leg department when it comes to sequin trousers – meaning that if you were seated in a boardroom, no one would even notice what’s adorning your legs. Ideal for mastering that dressy-slash-smart code without having to get changed, stick to muted tones of black or navy if your workplace errs on the more corporate side.

Nothing takes the sequin down a notch like a sloppy, cashmere sweater. Add some trainers and you’ve got yourself a covetable daytime look that nods to the festive atmosphere in a cool and sophisticated way. And if you end up unexpectedly revelling into the evening, you’ll be ready.

Sequins off-duty

Don’t save your sparkly separates for a handful of special occasions: wear with denim and voila, your sequins are instantly daytime appropriate. Just throw on some sparkle where usually you’d reach for a jumper or rollneck during the month of December.
